Here is the full Facebook post:
“A positive case of rabies has been confirmed in the Bath County area. The specimen was a dog (deceased), the rabies was of skunk variant. We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents that their domestic animals need to be vaccinated annually, or per their Veterinarians recommendation, to protect against the possibility of rabies infection from either wildlife, or other infected domestic animals. This is mating season for many animals, including skunks, so chance encounters are particularly increased at this time. If you should encounter any wildlife or domestic animals acting strangely, please contact your local Health Department, Veterinarian, or Animal Control facility immediately.”
