LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Four men involved in the 2016 shooting death of a pregnant Lexington woman were sentenced on Thursday.
Police say 22 year old, Mariyah Coleman was an innocent bystander who was hit by a bullet while walking her dog on Winburn Drive.
In the court room, several people spoke and the first person was Coleman’s mother.
Her mother said her daughter and grandson were taken far too early and she said it hasn’t gotten any easier.
After her testimony, the court heard from family members of the four men charged.
Most of them said these men had tough home lives and they weren’t set up for success.
A judge took all the information and testimonies into consideration, but in the end she would go with the Commonwealth’s recommendation.
Skylar Stigall plead guilty to manslaughter and fetal homicide in February and he will be serving 17 years.
Joseph Fain and Saquan Freeman plead guilty to manslaughter and fetal homicide.
Both of them will be serving 22 years.
Demetrioun Boaz plead guilty to murder and fetal homicide and he will serving 35 years.
There were tears and even a scream as the judge handed down these sentences.
