WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Several counties declared states of emergency including Wolfe County.
According to a Red Cross representative, there were over twenty people with flooding problems at their homes and about ten were in need of immediate assistance.
One of those people in need of assistance was Austin Lawson.
He says within thirty minutes the water from the creek in his backyard was on his land and eventually inside of his trailer.
There was damage to furniture, appliances, and the floor.
Lawson says about two feet of water made it inside.
“It ruined everything, most of it is gone,” said Austin Lawson.
The county’s emergency management director says crews are working tirelessly to fix all the problems, but he adds it could be a few weeks before things go back to normal.
