UPDATE: (3/1/19) – ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) – A grand jury in Kentucky has indicted a man on charges that include murder and assault in the shootings of four people in Elizabethtown.
The News-Enterprise reports Shadrach Peeler is accused of killing 34-year-old Cherie Turner last week and then going to a convenience store and killing co-owner Subash “Su” Ghale and wounding two others.
The indictment Thursday also accuses Peeler of tampering with evidence, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and resisting arrest.
Elizabethtown police were called to the store on Feb. 21 after gunshots were reported. Police spokesman John Thomas said at the time that the gunman was arrested when he returned to the scene of the first shooting.
Online jail records don’t show whether Peeler has an attorney.
UPDATE: 2/22/2019 12:30 P.M. – Police say two people were killed, two others were wounded, and one man was arrested in shootings at two different scenes in a Kentucky city.
Elizabethtown police tell news outlets that a 911 call about gunshots sent officers to a neighborhood Thursday night. Shortly after police arrived, more callers reported shots fired at a gas station.
Police say two men were shot in the convenience store and one of them was killed. A woman also shot at the station was able to drive away with injures not believed to be life-threatening.
Police spokesman John Thomas says the gunman was arrested when he returned to the first scene. There, officers also found a woman fatally shot between two homes.
Police haven’t provided the names of those killed or the man arrested.
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WHAS) – According to WHAS in Louisville, police in Elizabethtown have a man in custody, accused of a quadruple shooting late Thursday night.
Police say they were first called to a shooting on Warfield Street, where they found a woman shot to death, lying on the ground between two houses.
They say as they were investigating on Warfield, more reports of a shooting on North Miles Street were coming in.
They say two men were shot at a gas station; one was killed, the other is in critical condition.
They also say a woman was shot there, but she is expected to be okay.
Police say they arrested a man who they believe was the only shooter.
