LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – People were freezing for a reason Saturday afternoon as many plunged into a pool of cold water.
The Polar Plunge is annual fundraiser that supports Special Olympics Kentucky.
This year, there were about 140 participants.
Two of those participants were Dallas and his dad, Ron Dawsey.
Dallas was born with a seizure disorder and learning delay.
Both of them have been coming for the past 8 years and Ron says it’s special to be here because you know you’re making a difference for a kid.
“We just raise it for him basically, but the whole organization profits from this so we want every kid to have an opportunity to do sports,” said Ron Dawsey.
The Polar Plunge raised about $60,000.
That money will support 15 statewide Special Olympic sports and about 9,700 athletes.
