Four hour standoff in Ashland ends in an arrest


ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ) – A reported stabbing in Ashland on Saturday morning turned into a four hour standoff.

Ashland police say a neighbor called officers to the apartments on Beech Street to report a stabbing.

According to officers, the suspect barricaded himself in an apartment.

Four hours later, officers got in and arrested 57 year old William Cooper.

He’s facing assault and burglary charges.

Police say the victim of the stabbing was taken to the hospital and is stable.
