Lexington police officer assaulted while responding to possible burglary


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Lexington police officer went to the hospital Sunday night after he was reportedly assaulted while on duty.

The police department says the officer was taken to the hospital after responding to an alarm at a home on Constitution Street near North Martin Luther King Boulevard around 6:30 p.m.

Police say officers were attacked when they went through the house.

One had an injury to his head and went to the hospital, but has now been released.

The officers were able to arrest a suspect.

He is 28-year-old Kevin Blankenship.

He faces charges for assault, burglary, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
