PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says a computer scam is circulating throughout the county.
Deputies say that in the scam, the victim will receive a letter saying their computer has been hacked and they have your information and passwords. They also have information that could embarrass you and your family. The criminals then give you the option to pay them an amount of money usually in Bitcoin, money cards, Itunes cards, etc. They will threaten that if you don’t pay they will forward the embarrassing material to family, coworkers or the media.
If you have questions about any documents you receive, make sure you question it to see if it is a scam or not.
