MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) — A play premiering Friday night in Morehead is being put on to educate the community about Kentucky’s opioid epidemic, while raising money for its victims.
“Avoidance” is being put on by the Rowan County Arts Center and is sponsored by grants from the city of Morehead and the Rowan County Fiscal Court.
It is a docu-drama, featuring vignettes of real-life addicts; their names and personalities have been changed to protect their identities.
The play opens Friday night at 7:30 p.m., with another 7:30 show on Saturday, and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets are $10 at the door, $5 for students.
All proceeds from the play will benefit a non-profit organization in Morehead that supports and treats opioid addiction.
The play contains profanity and adult situations and is not suitable for children under 17.
