UPDATE: (01/08/19 11 p.m.)
ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ)- Traffic officials say as of 9 p.m., all lanes of US 60-13th Street in Ashland have reopened after utility line issues.
All detours and traffic advisories have stopped.
ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ) — All lanes of US 60 (13th Street) in Ashland are blocked from Ramey Street at ACTC to Blackburn Avenue (KY 168) because of wind damage to a power pole and power lines.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use caution. The Ashland Police Department and state highway crews are directing traffic near Oakview Road on the downtown side and at Blackburn to the west. Other city streets might be blocked.
Motorists may detour using Blackburn-KY 168 and 6th Street to connect to and from 13th Street downtown.
Utility crews are on scene, and equipment to stabilize the damaged pole is enroute. Once the pole is stabilized — estimated in the next 2 to 4 hours — crews expect to reopen 13th Street to one-lane each direction.
Again, motorists are urged to seek alternate routes, especially through traffic into and out of downtown Ashland:
— Downtown Ashland-bound cars or commercial trucks coming from I-64 should use Exit 191 to US 23 at Catlettsburg to connect to downtown Ashland or US 52 in Ohio. Motorists may also use Exit 179 to the Industrial Parkway (KY 67) to reach US 23 or Ohio destinations.
— Thru traffic crossing the bridge from Ohio intending to take US 60 through Ashland to I-64 or other destinations should reroute using US 23 north or south to either the I-64 Catlettsburg exit or the Industrial Parkway.
— Local traffic can divert along KY 168 and city streets. However, expect lengthy delays due to backups. Please seek alternate routes.
