UPDATE: I-75 Crash Kills Six People


LEXINGTON, KY. (WTVQ): A fiery crash Sunday morning killed six people, including a family of five.

The Fayette County Coroner says that the Abbas family was traveling north to Michigan in the northbound lane.

According to Lexington Police, Joey Bailey got on the interstate at mile marker 113 and traveled six miles south in the northbound lane before having a head on collision with the Abbas’ vehicle at mile marker 107.

The Abbas family included 42-year-old Issam Abbas 38-year-old Rima Abbas, 14-year-old Ali Abbas, 13-year-old Isabella Abbas, 7-year-old Giselle Abbas.

41 year old, Joey Bailey also died.

ABC36 News received a statement from Northville Public Schools in Michigan where the three children attended.

The statement said, “Our hearts go out to this grieving family and all those affected by this tremendous loss. Teachers and support staff members across the District have been informed of this loss and will be prepared to support our students and families, and one another.”

We also reached out to the Scott County Court Clerk and the Georgetown Police Department and they said that Joey Bailey, the truck driver, did not have a criminal history or anything on his driving record.
