FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – People living in one Floyd County neighborhood are being warned to be on the lookout for bears.
According to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, over the last week, people at a mobile home park in Prestonsburg have reported seeing bears getting into their garbage, tearing out the underpinning of their mobile home and crawling underneath.
One resident reported seeing a bear peering through a window.
The sheriff says people are scared the bears may try to approach them if they are outside and are scared to let their kids out to play.
He says deputies have been patrolling the neighborhood during the night to help with the problem because Kentucky Fish and Wildlife say there is not much they can do.
Anyone who spots a bear is being told to contact the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
