Families in Powell County that might not be able to afford presents got a special gift.
Every year, the Harbor Light Worship Center in Stanton puts on a toy giveaway that takes the pressure off the parents to find and pay for the perfect gift and instead lets the kids choose their own for free.
There’s gifts for infants through teenagers and every kid gets to pick out three things to take home.
There’s also clothes to choose from and families can take as much as they want.
A grandmother brings her three grandchildren to the toy giveaway because she can’t afford presents for everyone and this way she gets to be right next to them when they pick out their favorite toy.
“They love it, they laugh, and they’re having fun with the other kids, and sharing. They get stuff that I can’t afford at least it helps, it helps all the families,” said Denise Mullett, Grandmother.
The church has been doing the toy drive for three years.
Last year, a church member says they had about 700 kids.
They anticipate about 1,000 kids this holiday.
