LESLIE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The suspect in the murder of three people in Leslie County made an appearance in court earlier than scheduled because of security concerns.
Paul Douglas Sizemore’s arraignment was scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday but he was brought in at 9 a.m.
Leslie County jailer Danny Clark says because Sizemore is “extremely violent” and a “high-security risk,” officials decided it was best to bring him in separately from other defendants.
Sizemore pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and the attempted murder of a police officer.
He was arrested last week after authorities say he shot and killed Larry, Norma and Chad Bowling on Wolf Creek Road in Yeaddiss.
As he was leaving the scene, Kentucky State Police say Sizemore ran into a trooper’s cruiser then fired shots at him.
His bond remains at $1 million cash-only.
