Kentucky State Police say an inmate found dead in his cell at the McCracken County jail committed suicide.

Investigators say Ronald G. Ledbetter was found hanging in his cell by staff at the McCracken County jail staff.

They say no foul play is suspected.

PADUCAH, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of an inmate at the McCracken County jail.

Police say they were called on December 14 at around 1:30 a.m. about an inmate who tried to commit suicide.

The jail staff says 35-year-old Ronald G. Ledbetter, of Smithland, was found in his cell and they immediately began first aid until medical crews arrived.

Ledbetter was taken to the hospital where he died December 16, according to police

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville.
