Lexington hotel employee diagnosed with hepatitis A

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is reporting an employee in the kitchen of the Clarion Hotel Conference Center-North has been diagnosed with a confirmed case of hepatitis A.

The department says, as a result, customers who ate at the Sports Page Bourbon and Bar Grill at 1950 Newtown Pike from November 26-December 4 may have been exposed to the hepatitis A virus.

Health officials say, while it is relatively uncommon for restaurant customers to become infected with the hepatitis A virus due to an infected food handler, anyone who consumed food or drink at the restaurant during the time period is advised to get a hepatitis A vaccination.

The employee remains off work until cleared to return, according to the health department.

The health department also says the restaurant is working with environmental health inspectors to ensure proper cleaning of the facility and reviewed recommendations regarding ill workers.
