CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Clay County mother accused of killing her newborn appeared in court Friday.
Amber Bowling pleaded not guilty to the murder of her son.
According to an arrest citation, Bowling gave birth on Sunday and placed the “crying baby” in a garbage bag and threw him from the second floor balcony of an apartment complex on Ham Hollow Road in Manchester.
His body was discovered on Tuesday by neighbors.
Clay County Coroner Danny Finley says the boy died from blunt force injuries to the head and chest and suffered a cranial fracture, bleeding on the brain and fractured ribs.
Finley says the baby was not abused before he was thrown.
He says the child died from injuries from the fall.
In court Friday, Bowling was appointed a public defender and the judge kept her bond at $1 million cash-only.
