LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police say a shoplifting investigation blitz has resulted in criminal charges against more than 50 people in Lexington.
“Operation Fa La La Larceny,” a joint effort between Lexington Police and the Kentucky Organized Retail Crime Association (KyORCA), took place last week. From Dec. 3-6, officers and loss prevention personnel focused on catching alleged thieves at stores along the Nicholasville Road corridor with the following results:
- 53 individuals criminally charged
- 47 arrests made
- 10 criminal citations issued
- 7 arrest warrants served
- $8,267 in stolen property recovered
Police say they recovered merchandise included jewelry, fragrances, cosmetics, clothing, handbags, batteries, and alcohol.
The majority of charges placed against individuals as part of this operation were Theft by Unlawful Taking (Shoplifting). Other charges included Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglary Tools, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, and Theft by Deception.
The Lexington Police Department works regularly with KyORCA to thwart shoplifting schemes.
