Frigid temperatures continue; winter storm potential for Sunday

Overview:  Below average temperatures continue through the week, with the chance for scattered snow Thursday night into Friday morning, and a more significant winter storm Sunday into Monday.  There is still a lot of uncertainty with exactly what everyone will see Sunday into Monday, yet snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain will all be possible at times for parts of the Commonwealth. Temperatures will moderate more by midweek next week.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies and frigid temperatures develop with a low of 24 degrees.

THURSDAY: Cold temperatures continue, with increasing clouds, and the chance for a late day rain to snow mix, with a high of 40 degrees.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Snow showers are likely, with low temperatures around 25 degrees. Minor snowfall accumulations will be possible.

FRIDAY: After morning snow showers, we expect some clearing for the afternoon, with partly cloudy skies, and high temperatures around 38 degrees.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear skies and frigid temperatures continue, with a low of 19 degrees.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy skies and cold temperatures continue, with high temperatures around 37 degrees.

SATURDAY NIGHT: A wintry mix and snow showers will be possible, with a low temperature of 29 degrees.

SUNDAY: A wintry mix and snow showers are likely across Kentucky, yet there is still a lot of uncertainty as to who will see what with precipitation type and exact timing of changeover.  Snowfall and ice accumulations may impact weekend travelers. Temperatures stay cold, with a high temperature of 36 degrees.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies and light snow is possible, with a low temperature of 27 degrees.

MONDAY: Snow showers to a wintry mix of rain and snow will linger, with a high temperature of 35 degrees.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies and frigid temperatures develop,with an overnight low temperature of 26 degrees.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and chilly temperatures develop, with a high of 40 degrees.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear skies and freezing cold temperatures develop, with a low of 31 degrees.

WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy skies and seasonably chilly temperatures develop Wednesday afternoon, with a high of 45 degrees.
