LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Police are investigating a shooting on Carlisle Avenue, during which they say a family’s home was shot into 18 times.

According to police, they were called to Carlisle Avenue just before one o’clock Tuesday morning, about a large number of gunshots.

They say they found a home shot into through the window.

They say a couple and their daughter were home at the time, but weren’t hit or injured.

Police say they recovered shell casings on the street outside.

They are still investigating the cause of the shooting.

A neighbor who didn’t want to reveal her identity says she was scared when she heard the shots.

“I heard pow pow and it just kept going,” says the neighbor. “I swear it had to be more than 17 or 18 shots whatever they said it was.”

Emily Todd, a neighbor to the street, also heard the shots and says it has her on edge.

“It was just scary knowing that it was so close to like where we sleep every night,” says Todd.

She says that when she heard the shots she initially thought it was firecrackers.

“I didn’t even stop to think that it might be gunfire,” says Todd.

Both these neighbors say they don’t like seeing crime in their neighborhoods but say ultimately it’s not surprising.
