Lincoln County deputy injured during arrest of suspect

STANFORD, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a scuffle during the arrest of a man accused of being on drugs, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say 37-year old Joshua Craig, of Brodhead, was standing in Frontier Boulevard, between Cannonade and Old Fort Road early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say Craig became aggressive and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Deputies say he refused to comply with their commands so Craig was tazed and struck with batons, with no effect.

Deputies say then they physically took Craig to the ground at which time he grabbed a maglight from one of the deputy’s belts and tried to use it on the deputies during the scuffle.

Investigators say one of the deputy’s was treated and released for a soft tissue injury to the back of his hand.

Deputies say Craig was treated for a laceration and meth intoxication.

Craig was charged with Assault 3rd Degree of a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Menacing, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree and Public Intoxication, according to deputies.

He was lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail.
