UPDATE: Pedestrian dies after being hit in Lexington

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says a pedestrian hit Tuesday morning on Winchester Road has died.

The coroner says 37-year-old James Hawkins Jr. was pronounced dead at the University of Kentucky hospital around 6:45 a.m.

According to the coroner’s report, Hawkins was walking in the road when he was hit by a passing car.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department says a man suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on Winchester Road near Fortune Drive around 5:30 a.m.

Police did not release further details.

Crews closed down lanes to work the accident.

All lanes were reopened around 7:45 a.m.
