Woman claiming to be crime victim ends up as the suspect


WINCHESTER; Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman who claimed to be the “victim” of a crime is now the one in jail, according to Winchester Police.

Police spent most of their Thanksgiving morning searching for a robbery suspect.

Police say around five this morning an officer spotted a man and woman fighting outside a home on Camden Drive.

When the man saw the officer he took off, according to officials.

Investigators say the woman, Amber Jones told the officer the man came up to her and tried to rob her and that she didn’t know him.

Detectives tell us that the man was arrested a few hours later after he was found hiding in a field near the Dollar General just up the street from the scene.

Police say a short time later Jones was also arrested.

According to officials Jones met the man on a dating website and lured him to Winchester and tried to rob him.

She is charged with robbery and filing a false report.

The man was cited for fleeing and evading police.
