Frankfort, Ky. (WTVQ) – Franklin County is reporting a new hepatitis A case involving a food handler.
The Franklin County Health Department says the employee works at KFC located at 1229 US 127.
The department says the employee worked while ill from October 22nd through October 25th but there is a remote chance the worker may have been contagious as early as October 8th, prior to experiencing any symptoms.
Anyone who ate at that KFC is being asked to watch out for possible symptoms.
The health department says KFC voluntarily closed the location for a thorough cleaning and sanitizing after being notified of the hepatitis A case on November 1, 2018.
All employees at both Frankfort locations will receive the hepatitis A vaccination immediately.
This new case comes days after the Franklin County Health Department reported two hepatitis A-related deaths in the county.
The department is urging everyone to get the hepatitis A vaccination.
Vaccinations are being administered at the Franklin County Health Department located at 100 Glenns Creek Road on the following dates and times:
– Monday-Tuesday: 8 a.m.-11 a.m., 1:30 p.m.-3:15 p.m.
– Wednesday: 8 a.m.-11 a.m., 1:30 p.m.-5:15 p.m.
– Thursday-Friday: 8 a.m.-11 a.m.
