LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reports Lexington had 13 new cases of hepatitis A last month.
The health department says that brings the total number of cases in the city to 35 overall.
Of those cases, health officials say 74 percent required hospitalization, compared to about 53 percent throughout Kentucky.
There have been 16 total deaths in Kentucky related to hepatitis A, including two recently in Franklin County.
There have been no hepatitis A related deaths reported in Fayette County.
