CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Corbin, Kentucky, is nestled into the southeast region of the state and has something to offer everyone. We spoke with Maggy Kriebel, director of Corbin Tourism, who shared more details about what the city has to give.
Southern charm is overflowing in Corbin. With trails, local restaurants, a rich history and several lakes, the Corbin area truly does have something for everyone.
Corbin is the home of Colonel Harland Sanders and the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the original Sander’s Cafe and browse the museum with artifacts and memorabilia from the early days of KFC.
Arguably, the most famous attraction in Corbin is Lake Cumberland, home of the elusive moonbow. A moonbow can only be seen at a few waterfalls around the world, and Cumberland Falls is one of them. A moonbow appears when the full moon’s light reflects off the water droplets in the air. It’s incredible to have this natural wonder so close to home!
A few of the activities that visitors can enjoy include:
- Lake activities
- Horseback riding
- Campgrounds & Glamping (glamorous camping!)
- Several historical sites
- Local restaurants and shopping
Corbin’s Shop Local Shopping Weekend is November 17th and 18th. If you’re looking for a weekend getaway, this may be it! The city is also hosting a Christmas Parade on Dec. 1st.
