LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say a man has been charged in connection to a shooting outside of the Fayette Mall.
Police were called to the mall shortly after 7 p.m. Monday to a report of shots fired in the parking lot.
According to witnesses, two people were fighting over a handgun when a shot was fired.
An off-duty corrections officer was at the scene and stepped in and took the gun, according to police.
One man was arrested at the scene.
Police have identified him as 26-year-old Kristopher James.
Police say he is charged with wanton endangerment and drug-related offenses.
One of the men in the fight suffered a minor injury to his hand and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
