BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ): Nestled on College Square in Berea, PeaceCraft, nonprofit retailer specializing in handcrafted Fair Trade products from around the world, offers a truly unique shopping experience.

Manager, Amy Weinfurnter, explains that PeaceCraft’s mission is to promote peace through economic justice by selling Fair Trade products from artisans and farmers. Further, PeaceCraft seeks to educate consumers about Fair Trade and how purchases can impact individuals and communities throughout the world.

Weinfurnter states that Fair Trade is a different way of doing business that puts the disadvantaged artisans and farmers at the center of their business decisions, which empowers, rather than exploits, them. This business model is benefits disadvantaged individuals and communities because it provides a stable income, educational opportunities, safer working conditions, and greater equality in the marketplace. Additionally, they receive help with shipping, packaging, and marketing from the Fair Trade Organization.

Shoppers at PeaceCraft can expect a friendly, all-volunteer staff, Fair Trade educational materials, and beautiful, unique, handcrafted items. As an added bonus, shoppers receive the reward of knowing they are helping a disadvantaged family and community.

Currently, PeaceCraft carries handcrafted goods from 41 countries across the globe. They carry clothing and accessories, toys, home décor, ornaments, musical instruments, and food items. Some of the most popular items are the quilled cards from Vietnam or the variety of Fair Trade coffee, tea, and chocolate.

PeaceCraft is equally passionate about economic justice and community involvement at home. The PeaceCraft Community Projects program matches customer donations to projects that exist to help those in need, both locally and internationally.​ They have donated to several local and global organizations in the past and have a complete list on their website.
