DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Wilderness Trail Distillery perfectly mixes tradition and science to create the finest bourbon and other spirits. The distillery has been located in Danville for five years.
The Wilderness Trail bourbon is made from locally grown grains. Jared Smith, who works at the distillery says, “We make good stuff, because we like to drink good stuff.” And that they do! The bourbon undergoes several regulations and requirements to meet the stringent Kentucky guidelines.
Their “Bottled in Bond” bourbon guarantees purity by ensuring the bourbon is aged at least 4 years, it’s 100 proof, made in one distillery and in one distilling season. These strict requirements ensure that Wilderness Trail bourbon is the highest quality!
The Wilderness Trail Distillery offers several tours that are open to everyone. No reservation required, just walk in! The tour takes you through the distilling process, explaining the science behind bourbon, the equipment that is used and several other processes. And of course, cocktails are served for you to enjoy throughout the tour!
Wilderness Trail Distillery also makes Blue Heron Vodka and Harvest Rum, which is made with Kentucky grown sorghum instead of sugarcane. A true Kentucky proud rum!
On October 2, Wilderness Trail is hosting a Charity Chili Cook-Off. Chili and bourbon — you can’t get more “fall” than that!
