Judge rules man competent to stand trial for Lexington murder


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington man accused of raping a woman and killing a man is found competent to stand trial.

The Fayette County Circuit Court says a judge ruled Wednesday that 21-year-old Morgan Johnson can stand trial for the February murder of 19-year-old Christopher Spencer.

According to police, Taylor raped a woman at an apartment on Squire Woods Way and shot and killed Spencer, her boyfriend.

Johnson is also accused of holding the woman hostage before surrendering to police.

Johnson is charged with murder, kidnapping, rape, and burglary.
