SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Georgetown hair salon will be hosting a fundraiser this weekend to raise money for Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Jaime Morales who was shot in the line of duty last week.
For the folks at Enfinity Salon in Georgetown this weekend’s fundraiser is not just a fundraiser for a deputy that was shot on the job, it’s a fundraiser for one of their clients and his family now going through one of the hardest times of their lives.
“We’re just all super close,” said Susann Hardin, owner of Enfinity Salon.
Susann Hardin has owned Enfinity Salon in Georgetown for years.
“I have the best salon family around, ever,” said Hardin.
That family contains countless loyal customers including Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Jaime Morales.
“I actually done his haircut for his swearing in,” said Hardin.
When Hardin heard Deputy Morales had been shot last week, she broke down.
“Because we didn’t know what to say. we didn’t know what to think. we just couldn’t believe it,” said Hardin.
But after learning Morales was paralyzed from the waist down, Hardin and her fellow stylists knew they wanted to help.
“One of the girls reminded me that we had done a fundraiser for the cheerleaders and we raised like 300 dollars in two hours. so she was like why don’t we try something like that and i was like okay but we’re going to do this one free,” said Hardin.
This Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. the salon will be offering free haircuts only accepting donations for Morales and his family.
“I hope that it shows that we care for them and we’re here for them,” said Shelby Greene, a stylist at Enfinity Salon.
“We’re doing it because we feel a special connection to them,” said Suzette Walter, a stylist at Enfinity Salon.
Hardin says this fundraiser won’t be their last.
“We’re not done. he’s not done. we will not be done raising money for him until he’s done,” said Hardin.
The crew at Enifinity say they hope to raise more than $2,000 during the fundraiser on Sunday.
