Search for missing boater suspended

CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WTVQ)- The water is so high right now on South Fork Licking River in Cynthiana that crews have had to suspend their search for a missing Winchester boater.

A Fish and Wildlife officer tells ABC 36 two men were in a fishing tournament on the river when their boat got too close to Terry Dam. It capsized.

One person made it out of the water, but search and rescue crews say a man in his 70s is missing.

They believe he’s still in the water and reportedly told his family they think he’s dead.

Crews think they’ll be able to resume their search on Monday or Tuesday after the river crests.
