Woman dies in fire at Ashland home

ASHLAND, Ky. (Daily Independent/WTVQ)- Early Thursday a fire killed one person in a house on Gallaher Drive near Nolen Jr Willard Church. 

According to the fire chief, the department found out about the fire around 2:45 a.m.

“When we arrived it was already burning through the roof,” he told the Ashland Daily Independent. 

The Independent reports firefighters don’t know how the person died, but there was a lot of damage near where they found the body.

According to the Independent, the Boyd County Coroner says it was a 50-year-old woman who died, but she hasn’t been officially identified. He did tell the paper she did live in the home.
