SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officials have identified the man whose remains were found in southeastern Shelby County as Timothy Stites from Colorado Springs.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Stites worked in construction and traveled for his job. His sister called and reported him missing in 2016. The last time he posted on social media was in June of the same year.
“From that point on, we have no knowledge as to why he was in Shelby County,” said Detective Mark Moore with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials are still investigating a cause of death, saying there was no sign of trauma. They flew his remains to hospitals in Louisville, Tennessee and Texas to identify them.
The Sheriff’s Office is still trying to find out why Stites was in Shelby County. It’s asking anyone that knew him or has any helpful information to please come forward.
