HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State Police say a three-year old boy somehow got his hands on a handgun, was playing with it and accidentally shot himself in the head around 11:00 a.m. today in Harlan County. He died a short time later at an area hospital.
State Police say the toddler’s mother and others were home at the time.
They don’t know yet how the child got a hold of the gun.
KSP is still investigating.
The child’s name has not been released.
HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky State Police say a toddler has died after being shot.
KSP says the 3-year-old was on the front porch and was taken to the Harlan County ARH Hospital where the toddler was pronounced dead by the Harlan County Coroner.
State police say they are investigating how the toddler sustained a gunshot wound while at home.
