Construction on I-64 is taking place in both directions this weekend (Aug. 24-27). Paving will be performed on the westbound lanes and concrete bridge deck work will occur on the eastbound lanes. Some ramp closures are necessary too.

Crews plan to close entrance and exit ramps on I-64 West at KY 53 (Exit 35) on Saturday, August 25 while paving of the driving lanes at these ramps is taking place. They plan to close the exit ramp from I-64 West to KY 53 between 7 a.m. and noon. The entrance ramp from KY 53 to I-64 West will be closed from noon until 7 p.m. These times could change depending upon construction progress.

Motorists on I-64 West that want to access KY 53 should follow the signed detour by continuing to KY 55 (Exit 32), turning left at the end of the ramp then taking I-64 East back to Exit 35.

Motorists on KY 53 that need to access I-64 West should take the ramp to I-64 East, exit at KY 395 (Exit 43) and follow signs for I-64 West.

Milling and resurfacing of the exit and entrance ramps on I-64 West at KY 53 (Exit 35) is currently scheduled for the weekend of September 7-9.

Crews will also be working on I-64 East this weekend performing concrete deck overlays at the bridges over Clear Creek and Guist Creek. The left lane will be closed between the KY 55 interchange (Exit 32) and the weigh station.

This work is part of a construction project for pavement repairs on a six-mile section of I-64 in Shelby County. This project involves resurfacing of the roadway and concrete overlays at the bridges over Clear Creek and Guist Creek. The existing guardrail will also be replaced.

Work zone signs are in place with lights that flash when workers are present. The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 55 MPH when these signs are activated.
