LEXINGTON, Ky.(WTVQ)- The opioid crisis is becoming a problem across the country.
It’s a crisis that requires treatment and prevention, but more importantly, it’s about living a life free from addiction.
This morning, U.S. Representative Andy Barr welcomes Congressman Sean Duffy to Lexington for a field hearing on opioid recovery and transitional housing.
The hearing is happening at the U.S. District Courthouse in Lexington at 9 a.m. this morning.
Congressmen Barr and Duffy are being assisted by nine other experts from the sixth district to provide insight on ways to help people become free from opioid addiction.
Opioid overdose has increased in Kentucky.
Kentucky now has the third highest opioid overdose mortality rate in the country, meaning Kentucky is on the front lines of this epidemic.
The field hearing is open to the public, with the committee providing information and research on ways to help those in recovery free themselves from addiction.
