LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- We’re just one day away from the first day of classes in Fayette County, and there’s a new campaign to help drivers be cautious during morning commutes.
Fayette County Public Schools and AAA are partnering to launch the 2018 School’s Open Drive Campaign later this morning at Cassidy Elementary School.
There’s a press conference being held at 10:30 a.m. this morning to help increase the awareness of this issue.
It’s a new campaign being introduced by FCPS Superintendent Manny Caulk, Regional Director of Public and Government Affairs Cheryl Parker, and Transportation Director Marcus Dobbs.
The campaign urges motorists to slow down and stay alert in neighborhoods and school zones with anticipated increase in pedestrians and traffic.
AAA locations in Hamburg and Palomar are offering free ” School’s Open Drive Carefully” yard signs that reminds motorists to drive safely.
