VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – Saturday’s rain caused flash-flooding problems in some areas of the state, including Versailles, where waters left a mess behind at a stop on the state’s bourbon trail.
Beautiful. It’s a word commonly used to describe the Woodford Reserve Distillery, but after flash-flooding caused by heavy rain on Saturday, an unexpected mess covered the distillery grounds.
Crews spent Sunday and Monday pressure-washing sidewalks and scooping up tree limbs.
The good news? None of the distillery’s bourbon was impacted, and the distillery says it never stopped production, even in the flood waters.
Still, the distillery cancelled tours Sunday and Monday as a safety precaution for guides and guests. People could still do bourbon tastings and visit the distillery gift shop.
The distillery is expected to be open for tours Tuesday.
