WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- DNA evidence has led to the arrest of a man accused of raping a girl in Lexington 25 years ago.
According to the arrest warrant, James Fields, who was 22-years old at the time, and another man, took turns raping a 13-year-old girl in her backyard after smoking pot and drinking alcohol. The reported victim told police at the time she was initially approached by the two men while walking home from a football game.
The warrant also says that after the reported rape, the two men tied a rope around the girl’s neck and led her away from her house before eventually letting her go several blocks away.

The warrant does not mention the other suspect.
According to online court records, Fields was convicted of attempted rape in Tennessee. He will remain on the Sex Offender Registry the rest of his life. His current address is in Corbin in Whitley County, according to the Sex Offender Registry.
