“The Frozen Treats stamps offer the latest innovation in stamp design, which means you can add the sweet scent of summer to your cards and letters,” said Lexington Postmaster Barbara Cardoza.  Joining Cardoza at the event will be David Pressley, Steel City Pops general manager for Kentucky.

A commemorative pictorial postmark will be offered at the event.  Those who cannot attend the event but wish to obtain the postmark may submit a mail order request including a stamped envelope or postcard addressed to themselves or others.  Insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to: Pictorial Postmarks, Steel City Pops Station, Lexington KY 40511.

Steel City Pops will offer a free pop to the first 100 customers following the special dedication ceremony.

The stamps feature illustrations of frosty, colorful, icy pops on a stick. This booklet of 20 stamps showcases the work of Margaret Berg of Santa Monica, CA, depicting whimsical watercolor illustrations of frozen treats. Each of the 10 stamp designs includes two different treats. The words “FOREVER” and “USA” appear along the bottom of each stamp.

Art director Antonio Alcalá of Alexandria, VA, designed the stamps with Leslie Badani of Alexandria, VA.
