Pedestrian hit and killed in Lexington identified


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-The identity of the man who died just after midnight Sunday after a car hit and killed him in Lexington.

The Fayette County Coroner says 56-year-old Jeffrey Shields died at UK Hospital from blunt force trauma.

According to Lexington Police, a car hit Shields Saturday night on the outer loop of East New Circle Road near the Hamburg Chuck E. Cheese’s and IHOP.

Shields wasn’t in a cross walk.

Police say no charges will be filed.

The Herald Leader reports this is the city’s 7th pedestrian death this year.

Nine were killed last year.

The most killed in a year is ten; that happened in 2008 and again in 2016.
