PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A former Pike County teacher was found dead in a pool Sunday afternoon.
The Pike County Coroner’s office says 56-year-old Madonna Lowe was found in a pool around 1 p .m. Sunday.
Pike Central High School has released a statement on the passing of the former teacher
“We are saddened to hear of the unexpected passing of Mrs. Madonna Lowe. Until her retirement in December, Mrs. Lowe was a social studies teacher at Pike Central. Mrs. Lowe served for years as the school’s Advanced Placement coordinator, academic team coach, and cross country coach. Earlier in her career, Mrs. Lowe taught special education and she coached softball and track. She loved to travel and took her students to the Biltmore Estates in Asheville each year. Mrs. Lowe is survived by her husband, Donald. She was a devoted sister and aunt. We want to extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends, and we ask you to keep them in your thoughts and your prayers.”
Funeral arrangements are still being made.
