LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – There’s been plenty of grumbling about Lexington’s fireworks show. The city shot fireworks off the Big Blue Building downtown for the first time ever and many people weren’t impressed with what they saw.
Even Lexington Mayor Jim Gray took to social media, tweeting his disappointment, calling for an investigation into “what went wrong.”
Like many, Terry Sweeney, the president of Downtown Lexington Partnership, who was in charge of the event, wasn’t impressed.
“I think we were as surprised as anyone,” said Sweeney.
He says they worked with Zambelli, what he says is known to be one of the best fireworks distributors in the country. Now, Sweeney says they’re working with the company to find out what the problem was.
Sweeney wants everyone to know they are working out all the kinks so that next year’s display can be bigger and better than ever.
