PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Storms that originated in West Virginia moved west across eastern Kentucky Wednesday night causing damage in Paintsville, according to officials.
There were numerous reports of roofs blown off of homes and businesses, a church lost its steeple along with downed trees and power lines.
Some of the damage occurred in downtown Paintsville.
According to the Kentucky Power online outage map, more than 1,100 customers were without electricity after the storms moved through.
No injuries were immediately reported.
A survey team from the National Weather Service is scheduled to be in Paintsville on Thursday, July 5, to assess the damage and determine the cause.
