LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — A 19-year-old is due in court today, in connection to two 2017 murders that he is charged in.
According to police, Jemel Barber is facing two counts of murder after murders on two consecutive nights in 2017: July 22nd and 23rd.
Police say on the night of the 22nd, Barber was in the process of committing an armed robbery on Race Street when he fired a gun.
It isn’t clear who the intended target of the shots was, but police say one of the bullets hit the victim, Charles Shryock, killing him.
On July 23rd, police say Barber was committing another armed robbery, this one on Versailles Road.
According to police, Tyrece Clark was the intended victim.
Police say Clark realized what was happening and a shootout ensued.
According to police, Clark died from gunshot wounds inflicted by Jemel Barber.
Barber will appear in court this morning.
