UPDATE: (6/21/18, 2 p.m.) — Georgetown Road is back open following a multi-vehicle accident.
According to the Lexington Police Department, an SUV travelling outbound on Georgetown Road near Berea Road came around a curve, crossed the center line and hit a long trailer that was being pulled by a pickup truck.
The SUV then hit another large pickup truck.
Police say the call initially came in that a pedestrian was involved in the accident but say it turned out the driver of the SUV was thrown from the vehicle.
The driver and two passengers in the SUV were taken to the hospital.
Police say at least one of the victims suffered serious injuries.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An accident involving three vehicles and a pedestrian has shut down a Lexington road.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the accident happened just before 12 p.m. Thursday on Georgetown Road between Berea Road and Iron Works Pike.
The roadway is shutdown in both directions.
There is no word yet on how long the roadway will be closed.
