MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two women are charged with wanton endangerment after a young boy was found running naked in a roadway in Madison County.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was flagged down on Merrick Drive just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday by a person who saw the boy running naked in the roadway.
The person told the deputy the child was nearly struck by a vehicle on Merrick Drive.
The sheriff says the deputy went to the apartment of the child’s mother, saw the deplorable conditions and called the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
The child, along with six others found inside the apartment, were removed from the apartment.
The children’s mother, 30-year-old Krystin Lawson, and another woman, 18-year-old Shelby Barrett, were arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Both are in the Madison County Detention Center.
