LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It was a tough decision, but PJ Washington had to make it and feels he made the right choice by deciding to return for a sophomore season at UK.
He had the chance to test the NBA draft waters and got great feedback; now he knows what it’ll take to move himself in to the first round next summer.
By coming back, he’s already joining guys like Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Tyler Ulis as key pieces who know they could be part of something special in year two.
Washington’s not doing it alone. Nick Richards, Quade Green and Jemarl Baker look to be key pieces to the puzzle as well.
Richards would’ve been a big help if he was playing at his peak potential last season down the stretch, but it just wasn’t in the cards for the freshman.
His confidence wasn’t always there because he was inconsistent.
Now, he’s ready to roll and can’t wait to show his coaches and solid blue fans just how confident and excited he is now to get back out on the floor.
Some guys can transition from one level to the next with ease.
Others have to figure it out as they go a little more.
Green is figuring things out. His freshman season showed promise, but he feels capable of more.
So he’s making sure to tell the new Cats what he now knows coming from high school to college.
Hear from Washington, Richards and Green in the video.
