LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Donations being left outside the Salvation Army are leaving a mess for the organization to clean up.
The Salvation Army posted pictures on its Facebook page, showing items all over the outside of its facility. It says anything left outside the facility is considered dumping, which is illegal and may result in fines.
The organization posted: “Many want to do good by donating items to The Salvation Army to use to help with the homeless population. The unfortunate thing is, people come after our designated hours to drop items off and they just leave their items on the dock at the donation center.”
The Salvation Army is asking people to bring items to the donation center during the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
The donation center is not open on evenings or weekends.
